We are acclimating to the altitude. Here at the ranch, the base altitude is 8,700 and only goes up.
I did get in a mile swim at the swimming pool. I was expecting to really tire fast, but happily, it wasn't difficult.
We piled into the Tahoe and headed to Grand Lake for lunch.
And then the highlight of day: This is Evan's 15th birthday. So as a gift, we took the whole family on a horseback dinner ride through the Aspen trees and lodge pole pine. It seemed to be threatening to rain for a good part of the ride, but we only got a few sprinkles. But after the steak dinner was finished, the wind freshened and the temperature dropped significantly. We enjoyed the ride and the fantastic steak dinner, but we were ready to head back to the cabin to get warm. The temperature this morning was 51, and I'm wondering if it will get cooler tonight.
