Dylan Lantz and crew

Aug 8 - 16

Wow!  What a week.

Dylan Lantz (whose family owns the house behind us here in Beaufort) hosted 9 of his college friends (primarily from Olivet College (http://www.olivetcollege.edu/) at his families home.

There are 7 guys and 3 ladies.  The ladies are staying in the their guest house and the guys somehow fit into the house.

And what a great group of young adults.  We have enjoyed every minute of their visit.

Dylan Lantz, Hanna Petraitis, Joe Kushman, Mike Finne, Meredith Lee, Drew Carey, Meghan Hogenkamp, Levy Gerig,
Aaron Flemming, Tyson Lersch
We started out on Monday with all of them going over to Shackleford Banks on the power boat.

They rode the tube until it was almost flat.

Then on Wednesday, we all went to Cape Lookout.

The weather was so good that we were able to anchor the boat on the ocean side at Cape Lookout
Clara and I were becoming concerned that all it seemed that they were eating was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so we did a BIG Beaufort Shrimp Boil for them.  5 pounds of shrimp, 5 pounds of smoked sausage, 14 ears of corn on the cob, 5 pounds of potatos, cornbread and hushpuppies with all the trimmings,   It was all eaten!

Clara prepares the shrimp boil.  It took three large cooking pots to hold all of it.

Mike digs in for his umpteenth ear of corn.
Hannah after eating all the food,  just had to lay down for a while
Meredith says she ate too much~~
Dylan seems to be enjoying the moment.
Then on Friday, we all went out of the sailboat for the day.

The Captain enjoyed the sail more than anyone
Joe and Meghan
Mike, the clown of the group

Reflections
Hannah earned the name "Mom" for the group
Meredith as the bow sprit!
The helm never looked better, Meghan!
The guys lined up to dive!
Not so pretty

Ouch!
Meghan, Hannah and Meredith put up with 7 guys for the week.  They didn't seem to mind though!
The bow of "Eureka" never looked so good!
"Me Tarzan, you Jane"
Again Friday evening, we decided that the group needed some more exposure to good food, so we ordered Bar B Q and chicken from Roland's.

Saturday evening, we again invited them over to clean up the small amount of left-overs.

It was quite a week and we really hated to see them leave on Sunday.
