Ocracoke - March 2011

March 22-25

We've been working on the house for a couple of weeks and it was time for a break.

We decided to give the new RV a workout and headed to Ocracoke for a couple of days.

We took the late afternoon ferry and arrived around 6:00.  We went to Howard's Pub for dinner and then settled in at the boat ramp next to the ferry dock for a very restful evening by the water in sight of the Ocracoke Lighthouse.

Friday morning, we took a nice walk around the village and then headed North.  We arrived at the ferry landing for the Ocracoke - Hatteras ferry and decided to ride over to Hatteras for a while.

We went to the Hatteras Lighthouse for a while and to get our National Park Passport stamped.  Clara's grandfather was the lighthouse keeper here in 1911.

We ended up staying at a campground on the water in Frisco.  We were literally less than 25 feet (or less) from Pamlico Sound.

We were entertained for the afternoon by Kite Surfers, even though it was pretty cool.  The wind really rocked the RV for the night, but it felt like we were on the boat so we both slept soundly.
