At the lake

July 11 - 17

Slade and Candace invited us to spend the week with them at a lake house they had rented on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia.  We drove up on Tuesday and joined them, the kids and two of their friends for a great time.

Mimi and Papa have finally arrived!! And so, the blog shall start. Mom, Dad, Evan, Drew, Megan and I have been up at Smith Mountain Lake for the past two days, kicking off the summer. We have spent our time at the lake so far wakeboarding, kneeboarding, cruising on the boat, and tubing until it felt like our arms would fall off. When it was too hot to be out on the water, the kids would get in our enos that we had hung up on the dock to either nap, or jump off the dock from. That’s just where we were when Mimi and Papa finally pulled up. As soon as they got here, Dad took them out on a cruise to check out lake houses ‘just cause… no real reason.’ That evening, Papa came out on the boat with us to see our wakeboarding madness- it was amazing, it was the first really solid jump I’d gotten that summer, and Evan’s first time jumping wake to wake. We’ve determined Papa is our good luck charm.

Papito decided he had to swim up and down our little cut every day just to prove to us that he was more in shape than all of us combined.   Papa is the small dot out in the middle of the lake.

Letting the record show- Papa did NOT bring an eno, he just jumped in whoever's was open :)

All of the lake days kinda blend together because we did a bunch of the same stuff. We wakeboarded in the morning while the water was smooth, then we tubed and kneeboarded and cruised all day long. I’m sure we had a bunch of funny stuff happen on all those, but that’s just what we did. Minus the chilling part, we all hung out on the dock with books or to take naps for most of the afternoon (as always).

Mimi loved my float!!

Evan was a trooper and learned how to slalom even though we're pretty sure he seriously messed up his toe a little bit

When he finally got it he did amazing!!

This morning was different! We woke up way early to rent a pontoon for a four hour cruise around the lake. We looked at all the huge houses, and tubed behind the pontoon… even Mom and Dad tried! When we got back that afternoon Evan and I got up on the skis, we did pretty good considering we hadn’t done it since once last summer. Eventually Evan went on to slalom like Dad used to and he absolutely killed it. That evening we went down to the cute shops on the water to listen to the live music, the band wasn’t doing it for us, so we (the kids) went to the arcade to play a bunch of games to win a bunch of tickets.

LOOK AT HIM GO!!!

I’m not really sure what the whole crew did the last two days at the lake, Mom, Megan, and I headed home this morning to get me home in time for Blue Ridge, and Megan home for dance.
