After getting the motorhome out of storage yesterday, we headed over the the RV Park at Kirtland AFB. We've stayed here several times before. It's a real nice park, but not much activity this time of year.
We arrived with temperatures in the low thirties and a cold, howling North wind. Really tough to set up in, But we managed. The overnight temperatures supposedly got into the teens. All I know is the furnace ran a lot.
We all had to get oriented to having 4 people onboard the motorhome. But we gradually are getting settled in and learning where everything is stored.
Today we took the RV over to AB Tire Company to get at least 2 new tires. After inspection, we decide that 6 new tires are in order ($2,500). The cost of ownership! So now we have 6 new tires, which takes a lot of worry out of traveling. Generally speaking, no matter how many miles, about 6 years is all you can get out of the tires. Ozone takes a toll.
This afternoon, I finally get to swim at the onbase pool, which really felt good.

This morning we took the car to Tom's RV Service to have a new braking system installed on the CRV. This is supposed to be one of the best systems available. The braking of the TOAD is tied to the braking of the motorhome, with charging for the TOAD electrical system all the time (a major factor for TOADs).
Then we went out to Camping World to get some service work done on the motorhome. We hadn't planned on spending the day there, but that's how it ended up. But, I've had all the systems on the motorhome checked (preventive maintenance), so I feel confident that we're ready to roll.
Tom had not been able to get all the work done on the CRV, so we left it with him and we'll go back over tomorrow morning and get all the work done on the motorhome to work with the TOAD.
