It finally looks like the weather is going to be decent for the weekend, so we make reservations on the Cedar Island - Ocracoke Ferry for 5 PM on Friday and head out in the RV. On the way over, we discover that Tina and Doug Gilcrest are on the same Ferry, so they join us for the ride over in the RV. A great trip..
We arrive well after dark and find the parking lot near the ferry terminal which is the boat ramp works perfectly.
A great night's sleep and after a very slow start Sat morning, we just ride a little, walk on the beach, and relax the whole day. We end up in the parking lot beside the National Seashore Ocracoke Campgroud. Nobody's around and it is really quiet. I've taken a walk on a nature trail, and been down to the beach several times just enjoying.
We did need some water for "dry" camping, so I checked at the Ferry dock and they directed me to the state maintenance facility. Well, I obviously got the wrong place. After getting about a half tank, a couple guys come out and tell me that I'm at the water company facility and they ask us to leave - which we promptly do (but we have enough water so no problem).
